First attempt at Neptune

Good result. When starting on Neptune  a month ago, I had to shift the RGB images in elevation to compenstate for differential refraction. It looks like your image might still improve in that respect.

Some time ago I abandoned starhopping completely in favour of goto-pointing. The search each time simply cosumed too much of the scarce observing time.

Mike, something i found with Neptune is that a very long imaging session is needed - my latest Neptune (in this post below) was a 40 minute run. I am going to clock that up to about 60 minutes next time and use a 685nm filter to try and squeeze some further structure from the disc. That said with it's current low altitude it may be a fruitless task!

Great capture :-)

I started off with 10min AVI ,but will certainly attempt longer runs :-)

I'm going to get a mono camera and try with an IR filter see if that improves things ?
