I've got my second scope so I'm not an absolute noob.I just wanted to ask u pro's out there if u could give any advice i need to know for observing planets, deep sky objects basically everything. The new scope i have is a lightbridge 254mm which is a reflector just so it helps u when giving me advice.

Thank you for your advice :)

Take the front cap off, look through the eyepiece, adjust focuser for a sharp image.

OK best ignore that but you did ask.

What have you from your first scope ??

Mainly eyepiices and where are you - OK or US or other?

Heh good joke. I know that u should keep ure dust cover off, averted vision, look at objects when they are high in the sky, observe when there s good seeing, train ure eye do sketches, get a dark sky, don't look into white light so u get better night vision, don't put ure scope on concrete put it somewhere where the floor does not radiate heat,do not observe close to buildings, wait for ure scope to cool down, focus as good as u can, wait for those good moments when observing and that's about all of the more advanced stuff. My first scope was one of those better department store refracting telescopes. I use the Maxvision 16mm eyepiece,Meade QX series 400 26mm eyepiece,Celestron Xcel 7mm eyepiece.

What scope do u have? It would be useful to know cuz different scopes work differently and have different parts that operate differently. Is it computerised? Also. Try to read the instructions manual. If you lose it, type instructions manual for(whatever scope it is) and it will come up. If you are an amateur or even beginner astronomer, I would suggest celestron nexstar 4se would have been best 4u. Anyways, luck astrodob, luck with it.

I recall my school geography teacher calling it "...the temperate zone."

If u think minus 20 degrees celzius in the winter at night than yes it is.It's only hot in the summer plus 30 in spring and autumn its around 10.In winter it is cold in summer it is hot which is logical, but overall it's colder. In the  it's like 5 degrees in the winter which is a laugh for me.Let's put it this way it's one of the better locations in Europe.

Although I have an adjustable ironing chair for observing, I've hardly used it. I prefer to use the traditional rectangular plywood box that I knocked up some years ago.

There's a strip of carpeting on the top end and also down one side of the box. The other two uncarpeted faces, of course, make contact with the ground. It's so easy just to turn the box to the required height.

If you can innovate and make your own observers chair that is great. Purchasing a functional adjustable observers chair is a worth while investment in my opinion to. You would not necessarily stand to read a book, at the eyepiece you can look at the target whilst standing,  though perhaps to study the target requires being seated in comfort.

Yes! - been in Sofia & Varna, Bulgaria when it has been -20oC, a few cm's of snow in winter,  airplanes departed & arrived from the airports, public transport was operational with minor delays  - when I came back to England it was -5oC, (which felt colder), a few mm's of snow and airports and public transport is either cancelled or delayed :cussing:
