Nice imaging opportunity on night of 19/20 August

My guess is this has already been discussed, but here's a heads up that there appears to be a nice imaging opportunity on the night of 19/20 August. Comet Jacques will be passing straight through the Heart and Soul nebulae.
I'll be trying to image this with my modded Canon 1100D and a 200mm lens.

I should have my modified Rebel T3 back from Juan by then so, clouds willing, I may give that a try too!

Thanks for the heads up, if I get a chance I'll try my new 135mm lens on this. I see the Moon doesn't rise until 1:00AM on the night of the 19th/20th, but the forecast isn't looking good for me right now.

Been trimming the trees and hedge on the northern side of my garden today. Him from next-door was out and thanking me for being such a respectful neighbour by reducing the shade on his vegetable plot. But really it's so that I can get a clearer view of the NE sky from the obs so that I can capture Comet Jacques. Tee hee, what little they know.

It's turned into a lovely clear night. Guiding has been playing up again after I thought I'd fixed it, so I'm restricted to 60 sec subs. A quick curves in Photoshop has revealed I'm getting some what appear to be reasonable shots.

Grrrr, got to my friend's at 9:30 last night, nice and clear, getting my Astrotrac set up . . . The clouds rolled in and stayed! Will try again tonight, if the comet hasn't moved too much.

Had a quick go last night, using my 135mm lens for the first time. Picked it up quickly, it's quite bright and distinctly green. Tried framing it up with the double cluster, got about 25-30 minutes of clear subs before the clouds rolled across. Will have a go at stacking it tonight.

Imaging it at the mo, but the Astrotrac's not quite tracking accurately. Tiny bit of eggy stars, but I'll see if I can process that out.

Spotted it, but the sky is a bit murky, and I have to give a lecture tomorrow morning early, so no imaging attempt this time
