Poor mans guidescope rings

This maybe of some interest but also may not be.

As I'm getting my widefield setup together I need to find a way of mounting my guidescope as the is no way of putting it on top of a DSLR like you can with a scope.

As I have spent a fair amount recently I refused to pay out for what guidescopes rings go for and as I already have a short dovetail I thought I would put it to some use.

And this is what I have come up with,

Dirt cheap, works and with the rubber is protects the scope.

A little heavy at 700 grams but it will do the job for now.

Excellent and very stable which is the key thing. I once got some proper rings for a st80 with the 3 adjusting bolts in each ring, it was more trouble than it was worth amd didn't hold the scope well enough.

I can't believe how well they work, £7 well spent.

Just need to see how well it will work in the field now, just waiting on the Star Adventurer to be back in stock and to be delivered.

Where does the DSLR go?  or are you using a side-by-side?

I know someone who put the guide scope in the DSLR's hot shoe.

They will be side by side on their own tripod ball heads.
