I have thinking about making one for over two years in the planning, so I set the garden out as a secret garden at the top of the garden .

It have 2 shed one north south and one east west . north south is the observatory with a roll of roof that go over my secret garden  with the 4 seasons of the night sky in LEDS in the roof panels when the roof is rolled back on nice summer nights with a beer or two. for the pillar is 5mm thick  4 ins posts 7 ft stainess steel so it will not rot . Hoping to have it all up and running by the end of september with pics.

Pick up the ply wood  today to fix the leds in for the iner roof ,When looking for some chats to set it out I come by a old Radio-times from January 2012 with Brian Coxunlocks the wonders of the night sky, Its a 4 page pull out coving the constellations  North / East/ South /and West . So all I got to do is some thing like 300 leds to do all 4 panels. I may look at useing Chrismas light  and just chance some bulbs to save more time.

Your suggestions would be appreciated.

I have drilled about 700 holes today all 3mm, do I set some  in 5mm and 1 or 2 in 10mm, because not all stars are the same size.  Would you use all white

or different colours? as young stars and old stars are different colours. I have put a picture in with a few Xmas tree lights in the board to give you some idea

on how the inner roof will eventually look.

Your turnbuckle hook would be better put in from the top as it is now it won't take much for it to fall out.....:)

I used these to hold the roof down......

And the end of the roof has a coach scew this slides into a metal pipe when the roof closes so it can't be lifted off by the wind or anything else..

Or put them in at an angle like mine since you have them.  Mine haven't fallen out in the last year and its impossible to move the roof by high winds of even using brute force by lifting or pushing the roof.  The roof doesn't move at all either up, back and forth or sideways (sideways is stopped by track system).  Obviously got to tighten them up a little bit.  The opposing angles really secures the roof.

Waiting for LEDS to arrive  450 of them. then I move the turnbuckles over done the wiring today so I have come to a stop till roof is all done.

I am not doing to bad as I have 50 2x2 slabs just about all the wood , wheels, felt, posts, ect  so I only spent  £120 so far.
