Advice for my Moonlite hi res steeper motor focuser

Recommended Posts

I have a Moonlite Hi Res stepper motor focuser on my scope which I've never used. I'm now about to finish my obsy in the next few weeks & would like to start using it to focus via MaxIm & ASCOM.

What I'm asking is - what cables &/or other hardware do I need to do this?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Jeff

Hi,

I have a Moonlite stepper motor fixed to my Crayford on the back of my C11. The stepper motor itself has a 9 way d-type connector on it and four wires are used to connect to the stepper motor coils. The use of a 9 way d-type seems standard among the various manufacturers, Robofocus and Hitech Astro seem to use the same pin outs. If you Google Moonlite an pin outs you will find the connections required.

My Moonlite came equipped with a USB interface, which powers an drives the stepper motor and provides a USB interface which has ASCOM drivers. If you didn't get the USB interface then the Moonlite one would be the one to go for, but think they are compatible with the following:

Moonlite, Robofocus, Hitech Astro & Sharpsky.

Good luck

Robin
