False colours and solar imaging

Recommended Posts

Hi to everyone, I'm an italian astronomy amateur ant this is my first post on SGL. I'm mainly interested in solar observing and imaging, especially in the H-alpha and Ca-K wavelengths.

I would like to ask a question to you: what is your preferred software to apply false colours to monochromatic solar images? And what kind of colour map do you use to make them appear as "natural"?

I ask this question because my images generally do satisfy me as detail captured (although they're far from being perfect), but when I try to colorize them with photoshop, the results usually do not enthusiasm me. In the solar imaging board on this forum (and on Astrobin where I store my images) there are many images with a false colour mapping far more naturally then mine.

Thank you in advance for your help, and forgive me if my english has some "defaillances"
