Starwave 102 ED Refractor Telescope

Recommended Posts

Anyone on here had/got one of these scopes?? At under £600 for a 4" ED.......seems like a reasonable buy. Any advice, review ect.......

Are they not classified as Semi-Apo i.e. not a full ED APO spec?  A quick Google brings up some hits here at SGL amongst others.

Reading the description on Altair astro's site it seems to be  reasonably well corrected for the red but it seems that it has some residual CA in the blue as the use of  a fringe killer filter is recommended. The price is reasonable for an FPL-51 scope with 4" of aperture. It does need an FF/FR for field correction and reducing the medium fast F7 to a more useful F5.6.

Yeah I will probably wait a bit........

The SW Equinox 80mm ED is a hell of a scope for the price and as a bonus it looks good too, @ F6.25 it is reasonably fast and works well with an SW basic FF with just a bit of distotation towards the edges of the DSLR frame. The best FF/FR for it seems to be the Televue TRF 2008 but this one is pricy.
