Modded my Dobsonian for recording

Recommended Posts

Used a Vesa TV wall mount (removable by undoing wing-nuts) to mount a 10" Net-book (Lots of battery life in these). Picked out a white net-book on eBay so I wouldn't be tripping over it in the dark!

Hopefully I'll get to try it out tonight

thats genius!

hows the base bearing coping with the additional side loading though, still smooth?

About the same, had it out on uneven ground last night (frustrating night, no pics) and balance was fine. A little heavier to carry with stand on, but OK.

Lots of trial and plenty of error! Got some video of Saturn but was playing with focus and hard to manually track, made even more difficult due to slight delay before image displayed on screen. Will try stills at higher resolution next time. Can just make out Cassini if you squint. Already looking at a higher resolution camera.
