Lovely forecast, getting dark earlier. Kicked off before 10. Straight to Scutum, lovely clear detailed M11 "Wild duck" cluster. A real gem. Then a few doubles. Milky Way spotted through Cygnus.

Then from nowhere a breeze, then a wind . Then looking up the brightest orange cloud cover, all bright and very Tango tinted !

Packed up at 12 to check the forecast, no sign of anything orange !

Nick.

Yes.

Beautiful day here yesterday on the Yorkshire East Coast.

Then around 6.30pm,cloud rolled in off the North Sea,and that was it for the night.

To its credit the BBC got it right, all the others said clear.

During the day the sun burns it back to the coast, but as it sets (Bang).

So it was *your* cloud   I live just down the road in Wetwang. I went to York at about 6.00pm in lovely sunshine hoping to get the scope out later on. On my way home at about 7.30pm all the way down the A166 I could just see this big bank of cloud moving in from the coast and I knew it was a no go for the scope.

Here's hoping for some better weather tonight!

It does,nt look good Bob.

BBC weather has now changed to cloud, and if you look at SAT24,you can see how unfortunate we are.

I,ve had nothing so far this clear weather.

Then next week, its downhill all over again.

Sorry to be so gloomy, but it is depressing.

I,ve had about 6 nights this year, totally clear.

I do feel for you guys...up there in England...

I hear about clouds and rain, light pollution and freezing temperatures...

Since May this year I actually decided not to go outside...

Durban winter was setting inn, and temperatures dropped to below 15C at night.

Skies were clear..are clear,..for weeks...

Especially in winter (your summertime) the skies above Natal are dark blue and crisp.

It hasn't rained for 6 weeks now...and it won't rain until summer comes along..

But we do have a problem with dust, because it is so dry this time of year you really

have to be careful not to get some dust on your scope..

Ok..

maybe that's just a small problem..

(no hate mail please!!!!)

I spent two weeks on a Game Reserve in South Africa in March, and the skies were stunning.

Every night was clear, and the southern constellations were lost amongst the stars.

Recognising the southeren sky was quite a challenge.

But what a two weeks.
