5 Aquilae and super views.

Recommended Posts

No Moon, clear darkening skies, mozzies in force and a march past of harvestmen. Aquila was lovely and high in the south. However I was struggling and failing to observe,

5 Aquilae at 18h 46.5m. -00 58' a quadruple group, just visible at 5.9 mag. No problem with the yellow blue double , but 11.3 mag. C quite elusive. This being at a separation of 13.8". Tried wide and higher mag, but not spotted.

This was more than made up for by the triple

h881 at 19h 18.1m -05 25' at x266 showed the lovely faint BC , the group being orange and two blues.

STF 2644 at x150 giving a bright near identical pair at 20h 12.6m. +00 52' having a separation of 2.6".

STF 2590 showed a stunning full field with a few doubles, these being orange and blue at 19h 52.3m. +10 21'.

Sissy Haas notes 42 exciting doubles here, definitely worth seeking out under,

Clear skies,

Nick.

Months at home without work and hardly a clear sky.

Now I'm at work... well you get the picture.

So jealous right now.

Nice to read the reports though. Keep them coming.

Yep, one to try when the sky is really dark!
