I've had the 7mm for a while but its a bit too short for the 127MAK on the tripod. It shakes too much. It should be better when I get my outdoor pier finished.

Eyepieces that come with telescope are never going to set the world on fire, many better quality scope don't even come with an eyepiece as I am sure you know. The other thing that you have to consider is the speed of the scope. One of the scopes I have now comes with a 26mm Series 4000 Meade Plossl which at F10 is a half decent eyepiece, put that into the F5.26 Mak/ Newtonain then it shows a whole different picture.

Still I am sure you will enjoy your new toy and I hope the weather clears to-night so you can try it out.

Alan.

The x-cels are a vast improvement on the stock EPs, at a good price.

I've found the 9mm is good on planets with my 127mak, even on average nights, it frames the moon nicely with my 150 f5 newt, so a 18mm in the mak will give the same fov.

Hopefully you will get a clear night, I'll be interested to hear what you think of it, as I'm torn between getting the 18mm or 25mm (or both).

Congratulations on the new eyepiece

I had a X-Cel LX 25mm for a short while to try out and thought it a well made eyepiece that performed pretty nicely for it's price.
