How do u observe near to a wood where there are brown bears and wolves???

Do u have like somebody looking out for you and warning you?

If u do see something do u leave ure expensive telescope and get into a car (large telescope about 1,4 m high and over 25kg)

or do u take ure telescope and shove it into the car as fast as u can,and u hope u dont brake anything

Just tell me ure opinions please :D

It is pretty rare to see them where I live (but they are around), I imagine getting in the car, sounding the horn and flashing the lights will get rid of them though. Or just fire some warning shots if you have a rifle with you ;)

I think your as likely to damage the scope as the bear is if you rush to pack it in the car.

The bear could nock it over though...

I think I would just let the kit fend for itself and get to the car as quick as possible.

I can relate to this a little. On safari in Tanzania, I did do some observing but the camp was open so anything could have come in. Made it tricky to concentrate really! I love the hobby, but not worth getting eaten for ;-)

I had a Hedgehog sneak up on me once. I dropped my Nagler 31mm on it and managed to get in through the french windows unharmed. Close call though

I was happy to leave the kit to take it's chances with the beast. Turns out it was a Meade fanatic and I don't own any of those so it moved on to another garden.

LOL  more funny than realistic :D

Meades are good and celestrons but overall you should make ure telescope urself if u want a really good one with really good quality stuff and so on.

hmmm my friend had a electric fence thing once. only small and light but gave of some shocking power. not sure if you could make up a large ring area around you with the wire some how. the wire was light to. but would it keep a bear out im not sure and i wouldn't want to be the one to find out

How common are the brown bears and wolfs in this wooded area and how likely are they to attack? Would a whistle on a neck cord not suffice?

Forgive my ignorance but where exactly is Cudkovska Dolina?

I had a close encounter myself with wolfs in Northern Norway a few years back, though they weren't in themselves a threat, the marks men hunting them in a helicopter could have been though, had they mistaken us when skiing through the trees for the wolf pack.

Here in the UK the only predators I am familiar with are midges. Its other people, if at a remote spot to be watchful for such as if a group of poachers armed to the teeth turn up, or here in Northumberland you may unwittingly find yourself close to the route of a military night training exercise - but really no threat at all.

Nice picture to.

I'd find another observing spot , if you knowingly put yourself at risk then you shouldn't be too surprised if that " risk " materialises.

Expensive scopes are only " things " and can be replaced and my main concern given your scenario would be my own personnel safety .

A little common sense goes a long way ( if your blessed with that skill )and a Darwin Award is not a good epitaph.

VERY carefully

But the best strategy would be to get yourself in the car first and use it to try and scare the bear/wolves away. Kit can always be replaced.
