Heads Up 30th August

Plenty of warning for this one. The first meeting for the new season will be 30th August 2014.

Light fading is about 8pm and the moon will be just 5 days in to its first quarter.

This is the first weekend after the Autumn holiday so hopefully we will get a big turnout.

Couldn't belive this weekend- sat outside on our veranda in West Wales and it was completely light at quarter past 10 in the nigfht- the dark nights can't come soon enough

I set up 5pm, plenty of time to cool down so i thought, got nice and dark everything was perfect then the temp plummeted misted everything up. I hope i dont get the same problem when i get my  skymax 127 in July well before the start of the new season I might add

That would have given me about 7 hours to cool down Dai lol - new scope on the horizon? always look forward to having a view through someone elses new toy- looking forwrad to it :0)

Neptune... We'll, that would be pretty special think that May be optimistic with my 8se though... Looking forward to hopefully getting out, meeting everyone and getting some tips on getting the best of my scope!

12 days and counting. Karl ou should be able to see Neptune with a 8SE. will be about the size of a pin head, but you will see a difference in the blue colour compared to the stars around it.

2 days to go now and it is not looking good weather wise.

Small glimmer of a hope that the high pressure coming up from France will get here Saturday evening.

Mike is going to call the weather so fingers crossed for a clear sky

Metcheck says Clear sky. BBC says Cloud , so that helps a lot.

Currently, the weather forecast looks like it can go either way for Saturday night.

Since some of you may have to travel far (including me), I'll post if the meet is going ahead based on the latest weather & seeing forecast. Check this thread in the afternoon on Saturday to see if its either a "GO or a NO GO ". I'll make the call about  3:00 pm.

For those who haven't attended before, the site location is the parking lot next to the Blaenavon transmitter towers.
