Close conjunction of Comet PANSTARRS C/2012 K1 with NGC3614 galaxy

Recommended Posts

Hi all, there's an impressive really close pass of 11th magnitude galaxy NGC3614 by comet PANSTARRS (C/2012 K1) tomorrow night, 23/24th May 2014. Only a few arc-minutes apart. Should be worth viewing or imaging. Weather's not looking too good from here though.

Here's a screen grab from Sky Safari Pro.

Nice screen grab luke,

I saw it sail under NCG 3726 on Tuesday night after passing 60 Uma earlier in the day.

Thunder storms ever since, Just had a terriffic down pour with lightning etc but now its clear and sunny!

If it remains clear when I get back in late tonight I will have a look on approach, I will await the met-offices'

Friday morning forecast with my usual Optipessimambivalence-ism.

Thanks for the heads up,

Mick

Well done folks!

Here's my effort, stacked in DSS centred on the comet. High clouds got in the way a fair bit.

Canon 700d, 250mm f/4.8 Newtonian. 34 x 180s exposures.
