Hi All, I have this morning, received from those top folks at FLO, my new Telrad Finder.

I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts/ suggestions as far as fitting/ final positioning on my 130P.

The best thing is don't take the sealer off the sticky back until your really happy with where you want it, I used masking tape to try different positions. In the end I did away with the finderscope that came with my telescope for the Telrad to be in a place I was happy with.

Good advice. You could also try zip ties instead of tape

I did exactly that when I first had my Telrad, however I kept the original finder eventually replacing it with a RACI.

Hi All, just an update, as the weather has continued to be awful, Thursday night was my first chance to try the Telrad out. As Sandraj advised used some masking tape to fix the base on :)

Got outside fitted the Telrad to the base put Spica in the middle of the EP, Turned the Telrad on, slight adjustment and were in business.

Have to say, I can see why people say they can't do without it, found it to be a brilliant and easy bit of kit to use.

Also Thanks again Cotterless, for the map link, have a nice little folder with them all in now, although it did cost me £80 , as I had to buy a new printer as the old one decided not to work. Typical!! lol. ;)

I now have a Rigel on my Flextube because the secondary mirror top part of the scope isn't long enough for the length of the Telrad I had on my original 200p. I have to say I prefer the Telrad as a finder but it did dew up quite badly, worse than the Rigel. I should have made or bought an anti-dew thingy for the Telrad but never did.

My main problem with the Rigel (not that it is relevant to this thread) is that I often find it hard to actually locate the target circles through the reticule.

I tie-wrapped mine onto the 200P Skyliner. But found it to be just out of reach, and did'nt want to remove the original finder, plus I had an eye focusing problem so I decided to sell on the Telrad. The new owner did a wonderfull 'chop' http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/207665-telrad-v-rigel-advice-please/#entry2216473 and I would imagine it would have fitted better now on my Skyliner, but I'd still have an eyesight problem.

However, with its smaller foot print now, it should'nt  be to  difficult to find the optimal position. Best to not remove the masking tape until final position has been corrected.

Obviously, if you cut your new Telrad, warranty is void, but the Telrad does surprise a few folk due to its size?

I read a thread on SGL about chopping the Telrad ... Beyond my skills but the result looked great. I wonder why Telrad doesn't offer a short version. They don't need to be as bulky as they are.

by the way in the pic above, i do not actually have 2 finder's lol, that was when i 1st got the altair 60mm and i had the EP in just to check everything was working ok, the altair's sole purpose is a guide scope, and i have the telrad finder as it comes in really handy for manually tracking the ISS and means i do not have to disturb my guide setup chopping and changing from guider to finder...
