iOptron Skytracker V2, 600mm Sigma mirror lens & M51

Recommended Posts

Not sure I can call this a review but I will add to it as time goes on.

It was an experiment tonight to see 'if' the Skytracker would take an old 600mm mirror lens and Canon 450D body.

I have done some other images with a 100mm and 400mm lenses but this (for me has pushed the little tracker as far as I intend to go.

Image is 30 x 60s subs as raw files aligned and stacked in PI then further processed in PS-CS3. Image was very botchy with colour patches everywhere so I've grey-scaled and reversed the image to make it look a little respectable.

Thanks for that. 600mm is about the limit I think unless you can get a lighter set of optics/camera combination. The Sigma 600 mirror and Canon body are my lightest at that focal length
