Beginners Observing Book

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the right place, but....I recently purchased a Skywatcher 130 - thanks to FLO's clearance sale - for my nephew who is 15. It's his first scope and he loves it. Hint of a gap in the clouds and he has it out. I am looking for a good introduction to observing book that will give him suitable targets, with hopping instructions, for a scope this size. Does anybody have any recommendations?

Turn Left at Orion is the classic on how to find things, what to look for in a variety of scopes, and a whole heap of other invaluable information.

Fantastic book, a timeless classic!

The spiral-bound copy is easy to take out with you as it folds nice and flat. Under £20. Bargain.

+ 1 Turn Left at Orion - perfect introduction and ticks all the 'boxes' you have put forward.

Thanks all. Looks perfect. Ordered from Amazon in time for the weekend!

Steve - I enjoyed your book immensely. Thoroughly recommend it.
