using mono Camera snd filters.

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have just purchased thr QHY5L-II mono version. I'll mainly use it as a guider but also planetary imaging.

Now I understand I will need RGB filters to be able to add color to my image's. But what im not quite sure on is how to go about it.

Do I just record 3 different videos each one with a separate filter. Then I assume you run the captures through registax and then in photoshop stack the 3 end results from registax? Or am I completely way off?

Could of just got the colour version. But I believe mono has better sensitivity and not only that I like to learn new methods.

Cheers.

a lot of effort but i would never go back to OSC imaging. i am always impressed by the different detail recorded by the different channels when planetary imaging.

Me too. Its a bit more work, though the post-processing is a lot easier as the data is better quality.

Here's a basic little document that I pulled together to explain the differences. My skill level is a long way away from some of the guys'girls on here, but I think that this illustrates the advantages well.
