Finderguider mounting mod

While i've got my limited amount of tools out, strewn about the kitchen, i was pondering a better method of mounting my finderguider as the current way flexes more than a Russian gymnast in the Olympic finals. if i cut the leg off here:

grind the chop line at a slight angle to keep the whole thing parallel to the main scope, drill and tap a hole and mount the guider here:

anyone see any pitfalls or is it a pointless excersize?

Are you going to be able to get your head close enough to the OTA to be able to see through it? Or am I reading this wrong?

it's purely for my guidescope. haven't acually 'looked through' my scope in months
