Which eyepiece for Bressner Skylux 70mm?

Recommended Posts

70/700 = f/10.

On the assumption it is not worth going for anything fancy, so plossl's come to mind - Revelation, GSO or similar,

As it is f/10 try a 10mm, 12mm and a 25mm or 30mm.

It may take a 8mm or even a 7mm but get something at first that should work without problem.

If just 1 then the 12mm or even a 15mm for a bit lower magnification but a reasonable field of view.

Plossl's are around £21-23 a piece - Rother Valley and Harrison have a selection.

Hi Dan, welcome to SGL.

I'd go with the suggestion in post # 2.

Best to keep the magnification modest, you can see loads at up to 100x,  smaller and sharper beats larger and fuzzier, easier to hand track as well.

Take the telescope focal length (written somewhere on the scope) divide by the eyepiece focal length (again written somewhere on it) gives the magnification.

I'd get a couple of eyepieces that give a low power around 25 / 35x, and a high power around 90 / 100x.

Don't forget to align the finder (tiny scope attached to the main one) or maybe it has a red dot finder. If you don't do that, you will struggle to point the telescope at anything. If you are unsure how to align the finder, come back here and ask, someone will tell you how.

Regards, Ed.
