Very bright region 18/4

Just had a quick peek through my PST and noticed a very bright area between a couple of sunspots. Not very good at identifying sunspots but the region is at about the 10 o'clock position and halfway between the centre and the edge of the disk when viewed through the scope. Pretty sure it wasn't as bright an hour ago and it looks like 2 super bright filaments (it reminds me of sci-fi movie effects when a planet is breaking apart and splitting open!) Just wondering if anyone else has seen it...

Definitely seems to be changing... What was 2 thin lines are now more spread out and seem less bright. I'd love to know what is is!!

You are seeing a solar flare from region 2036. The flare is fading with the expansion.

My first flare!! I always wondered what they looked like... Impressive I have to say!!

Always a thrill to see your first flare. Mind you it's a thrill to see one anytime. This has been a pretty decent one over a fair area and it's lasted well.
