Hello from north Cheshire!

I've been interested in astronomy for many years - my first school project at primary school (my choice) was the solar system.

I've been interested in, and doing, photography for about the same time (developing photos in primary school) - now I've decided it's time to merge the two....

I finally got a 4.5" Newtonian scope (manual) 14 years ago as a long service award, but didn't use it enough. Since moving north (from Reading) soon after getting it,  the weather hasn't helped much!

So now I've decided to upgrade and make a real effort, with a Celestron VX mounted 925 SCT for when I've got enough time and for better imaging, and a Nexstar SE6 that I can get out quickly if there's a break in the neverending clouds!

Just trying to sort out eyepieces now - starting with a Opticstar XL zoom (appears identical to the Skywatcher Hyperflex 8E ??) but so far not finding it to be as good as I'd hoped - anyone else used it?

Other than that may main interest is music, particularly progressive and classic rock, and I get to gigs when I feel like it, and combine that with photography to promote the music I like, normally with the approval of the bands and/or promoters, but not for monetary gain - anything decent ends up on my Concert Photography Plus website - so far there's nothing in the 'Plus' part, which is where astroimaging will hopefully come in one day, as well as a few other topics!

My background is in I.T. and project/programme management but I've had more than enough of that!

Cheers everyone!

Hi, the 9.25 is a bit of a dew magnet and long term probably will need a dew heater band... But to get you going try a camping mat from Argos or sports direct cut up and rolled round the end :-)

Good luck with the imaging

Hi and welcome to SGL - Glad that you found us, good to have you on board. The C9.25 is a great scope, although a bit of a beast to tame for imaging in my experience, Good luck!! Only manged 4 images from mine since I got it in January.

Look forward to seeing you around

Hi and welcome :)

Yep the weather in Cheshire has been weird recently.  Stunning during the day and rubbish at night!

Been about a month since i last got out imaging.

Look forward to seeing your images in the near future :)

Hi and welcome to the forum. Look forward to seeing some of your future images as they appear - imaging starts with a steep learning curve but after that it's pretty straight forward (...he says with a wry smile  )

Clear skies

James
