AWESOME!

I might be going if I can find somewhere quiet to camp (*cough*May bank Holiday *cough*). Organising anything in this household takes some major strategy so I'll say maybe/hopefully/weather permitting.   :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Are we allowed to come in our Motorhome and stay overnight after observing is finished. Would love to come with our telescope, but not sure how it's works at this venue. Only been to kelling Heath campsite star party before. Is it similar to that event.

Cheers Paul and Chrissy.

Paul & Chrissy,

I was told by a ranger in the Estate a couple of weeks ago that camping is not permitted on the Elan Estate.

However, here are a couple of campsites you can stay in - Rhayader is only four or five miles away from the Visitor Centre...

This is in a beautiful location in St. Harmon...

This one is even closer to the May 4th Event (Star Wars Day  :D)

I've stayed at St Harmon before, a remote and lovely place. Tend to avoid the larger sites as we like REMOTE, but everyone recommends them as the facilities are very good.   :)

We might attend ourselves but I think we'll drive home after the event as we are only an hour away.  (Wish we were closer)

Just to let any potential attendees to this observing session know, after looking at the latest satellite imagery we've chatted with the Elan Valley VC and decided it's a no go for tonight. That's astronomy for you.

Obviously the "fourth" was not with us!!
