It's called the Sony HAD ICX274 color CCD sensor camera

Boy..it's nice and all that but "it ain't cheap"

The inexpensive model is $699.00 (US dollars)

It's the same chip used in the ATIK 320E which is over $1100, so maybe that price isn't so bad.

Ehm. There is quite a difference there. The Atik is active cooled, with different readout electronics to support long exposure DSO imaging.

Whereas the SKYRIS cameras are dedicated planetary cameras (Imaging Source cameras with Celestron branding), not cooled and support only up to 30 sec exposures.

So eventho they have the same sensor, they are completely different cameras. One is a planetary camera and the other is a DSO Imaging camera.
