very good viewing at last

Wow, what a great sky tonight; I'd almost forgotten what they could be like. A few faint fuzzies I have been after recently all came into view: Leo M65/66, M105 (105 definitely worth seeking if you haven't already) In Virgo, M's 60/84/86/87 + 58 & 59 (both very faint) . Some good NGCs were 4494/4725 & 4565 in Coma Berenices. Unsurprisingly, the 'star of the show' for me was M13 in Hercules; absolutely stunning at magnitude 180x. Mars showing some reasonable detail at magnitudes less than 200x, and of course Jupiter was in food form.

Would have stayed out longer, but I've got to work tomorrow night!!

Wow indeed I'd love to have an evening such as that. You must have nice dark skies there? I didn't take my scope out into the Garden lastnight as I didn't have much time in-between nappy changes, so I grabbed my Bins 10x50 and had a look around in my S, SW views but only before the Moon started to rise and add to the LP. What I now know is that its much easier to locate things or atleast get in the general area of interest, using a Finder scope interium view rather than my current set-up of Rigel eye view then straight to 25mm EP. Hmmmmm more money to spend on shiney things.

A good night of observing indeed. We've been lucky and had some fine transparent nights of late.

10 messiers, some NGCs and the planet Mars, sounds like you had a great session.

Nice report.

Rune

Yes indeed; it was a really transparent sky; haven`t seen one for a while. The Moon rose late enough on the other side of my house to allow a better than expected session.  I strongly recommend getting your scopes onto M13 in Hercules; a real beauty.  Most of the other Messiers and NGCs you have to work at a bit.....jump out at you, they certainly  don`t!!

Nice one, always good to get out and see some of the beauties up there, unfortunately I got clouded out last night after a quick session on Jupiter and Mars. Saw about half the ISS transit before it disappeared in the cloud.

Hope to get out later as it looks as though the skies might clear.

Good luck.
