Mars - 15th April 2014

Had good seeing tonight, Mars was around 28' high when I drew this at 20:20UT using an 8" Maksutov at x200.

Syrtis Major was easy to see and it was surrounding a very bright area that could have been mistaken for a polar cap.

The real polar cap opposite Syrtis Major is very small and quite hard to detect.

Thanks for posting - the polar cap is tiny. Good to have Mars up and revealing some detail at last.

I managed to squeeze out some detail of mars on Tuesday night with my 10" Dob at 120 mag,

I Could make out the Polar cap, Syrtis major, with a big wow  .

Very nice sketch Dweller. Even though it is small, if anything I enjoy Mars more than other planets. Almost Earth like, and lovely detail when conditions are good.

Nice sketch, the south polar hood was very pronounced especially in red filter, made it really pop out I found
