Stephenson 1

First clearish night here for ages but again coincides with Moon, plus fine haze and the odd trail.

What to image.......lets try something rather bland the Moon and haze won't washout to much.

How about Stephenson 1 in Lyra?.......a rather loose open cluster around Delta Lyrae

Stephenson 1 is centred on the two stars Delta Lyrae which dominate the scene with their contrasting colour.

Delta 2 Lyrae is a huge red giant (200xsun radii) and Delta 1 Lyrae is a main sequence blue/white dwarf (5x sun radii).

Anyway enough babble here is the image........40mins....20x120secs@iso800

Thanks for looking.

Great image, as above, didn't know it existed.

Thanks for the nice comments.

It is a rather nondescript cluster apart from the two components of Delta Lyra.

I'm not even sure which of the other stars are members of the cluster, will investigate that.

I gather there are at least 50 members, may be more.
