DSS and RAW file problems

Recommended Posts

I have tried to stack some RAW images in DSS and when i compute the number of detected stars i get 0 but if i use the JPEG's i took at the same time i get 1800+ is this normal or am i doing something wrong???

I have also use the slider to try and decrease the star detection threshold but still no joy also been in the RAW/FITS setting and set my camera to CANON EOS DIGITAL REBEL as I am using a Canon 1100D wasn't sure what to do with the colors adjustment so I left that.

I did convert the RAW files to TIFF as advised they would be better quality then the JPEG but when I tried to process these I was getting no color showing.

So basically I have only been able to stack and process JPEG files

Any help advise welcome

I always convert the raw files from my modded 600D to 16bit TIFFs before stacking in DSS as I find I get a far superior result than using raws, particularly when using an HA filter. I usually have to set the star detection threshold to over 70% to get the number of detected stars down below a 1000.

I had a problem with raws where when i processed them through dss they came out in portrait rather than l/scape so i lost half the shot then i changed to the latest beta version dss 333 at the time everything ok now
