I've bought a brand new sw 250pds on a neq6 pro mount nearly 2 weeks ago and the only thing I've photographed and viewed is the inside of my living room ain't had a chance to use it as this weather is in no hurry to stop. It's been going strong now since well before Christmas it's crazy. Let's please have some clear skies soon!!! Rant over!

It is absolutely lashing down here this evening.  Just got back from taking my son to the local swimming club, but there was more water on the roads on the way back than there was in the pool!  It was pouring off the fields into the road in places and there are broken bits of tree all over the road.

There is the odd break of a few hours forecast here and there, but it looks to be pretty much the same until the weekend at the earliest :(

I agree Skooby and so does most of the forum, it's been a dreadful six week period in prime astronomy season!  It was the same last year as well.  Diabolical.

The astronomy magazine's covers make me laugh!  They headline on the covers stuff like "we'll show you what to explore in Orion" or "things to see in January".   Yeah right!

You have to admire the optimism of the British astronomer. I suspect if we had clear skies every night equipment sales would plummet.

I don't know about anyone else but I spend most cloudy nights browsing FLO's website and making shopping lists in my head.

You'd think the lack of opportunity to use it would deter me from buying any more gear.

Its been raining and or cloudy for six weeks solid.

Tonight is really bad. Glad force winds, heavy rain, thunder & lightning and hailstones. The forecast doesn't look like improving in the near future. Oh well I'll read my Sir Patrick Moore's book again from the beginning, that will keep me going until next year.

Hope some of you are getting some seeing done.

The sun was shining here all day, promised a clear night. The second I got in from work, the clouds gathered and the rain came down... Just for me  :p

I've heard there's snow on it's way. We had a light dusting last weekend, and it's definitely cold enough to snow.

Looking at the number of sunny hours per year , you must be buying a lot of scopes there in the brit-land. I think it is a vicious circle, more cloudy nights means more time to browse for new equipment, and new equipment always brings in more clouds ;)

Oh god not all of February please my scope and mount is now in the spare bedroom back in the box. It's the sane with me though like yesterday for example it was a glorious day sun out so I thought I think I'm gonna get the scope out tonight brilliant but as soon as the clock in work ticked 2 o clock to finish work the heavens opened and didn't stop till I got up this morning. It's heartbreaking! And as uplooker said it looks set for all February gutting! :(

Well, this morning hasn't brought any change in the weather.  It is still absolutely chucking it down.  It is now wetter here than it has been at any point this winter.  Which means that it's also wetter here than it has been at any point in the then years we've lived here :(

I blame Father Christmas - bringing all you boys and girls new Astronomy toys.

(Myself included - although it was a 50mm extension tube, lol)

On a serious note I've just gone and got some G clamps to hold down my roll off roof - winds are picking up and at work trees have started to blow over and we've lost one aircraft hanger roof.

You are right, I've managed to get out 6 times in December and 6 times in January but they've not been great nights.
