ISS pass and two bright meteors

Recommended Posts

Another successful night with my Samsung SDC 435 low light video camera with a 2.1mm lens. All video captured using HandyAvi software. Youtube has heavily compressed these data, the originals have far fewer compression artefacts.

Very bright fireball - unfortunately the final flare up is caught just off camera

Fast meteor

Hi Michael , Assuming I read the timing correct on your HandiAvi Capture your 'very bright fireball' was recorded around 00:39/00:40 hrs on the night of March 29/30 2013 . This looks as if it is the same object reported by Peter Drew on the SGL Forum today (observed from his bed through a Velux window.). There are four visual reports so far on the Armagh site http://arpc65.arm.ac.uk/cgi-bin/fireballs/browse.pl if you scroll down. I picked up a 'flutter' on Twitter early this morning but nobody reported a time (postings were post 0100 hrs) .Two meteor video cameras (one in Leeds & another in Cheshire) have recorded what could well be the same event. The observers are members of NEMETODE http://www.nemetode.org/index.html should you wish to contact them.

Are you managing to record any stars/planets/terrestrial objects that could aid in azimuth/elevation measures ? Have you tried 'stacking' to establish a reference background.
