And since it's a Meade, the electronics will probably die in 2 years and you are stuck with a pile of scrap.

You can get a 16" Orion ODK and a Planewave Ascension 200HR with 1.4 million ticks ultra high res absolute position Rickshaw encoder for less than $35k.

Only someone with more money then sense will buy that Meade.

F/12 isn't really fast enough for imaging . Mind you, why use a 20" refractor to image?

Me too, as it happens. Something about scope cooling anyway.

I think there comes a time when the 'portable' scope ends and a permanently mounted large telescope in an observatory begins. For the money that thing costs, I'd try for the observatory myself.

Amateur astronomers with this kind of money (check out R Jay Gabany or Karel Teuwen) don't buy this kind of junk. Voila.
