SkyQ Link WiFi Adapter?

Hey,

So I have a CG-5 mount and can not stand the Nex Remote alignment process, and finding objects is a pain. I was going to connect my mount to Stellarium which would help my observing experience, but I just stumbled on SkyQ Link WiFi Adapter and wanted to know if any one has used or heard anything about this? From what I see it does what Stellarium does but just more conveniently. Any info would be great!

I was looking at that at the weekend but isn't it designed to work with Celestron's own software app, SkyQ ? ie this device is a dongle to wifi enable your Celestron mount, to do anything you also need their software

At the weekend there was a whole set of colourful celestron pages about their SkyQ app but they don't seem accessible now - pity as it looked pretty good but you do need and iPhone/ipad

I did see some internet forum messages about using it with SkySafari which is a third party app but I don't know if SkyQLink works with that

If and when I do get an iPad I may be tempted ...

Hi All. Any reviews or user feedback re this item. Only thing I can spot is an indifferent review on Cloudy nites.

Gizmo or useful. I only have a I phone, so could be a marmite situation !

I'm going to resurrect this one as I'd be interested to know if skysafari can be used with the skyq dongle. Southern stars do their own wifi device but it is much bigger and would work out at least as expensive as the skyq dongle once you add in their extortionate delivery cost and any import duties.

It's been a long time since I have been looking at this forum, and I am certainly glad to be back ! I have a question that will pop this thread back to the top of the page.

I have the SkyQ dongle for my new Celestron mount. I love how it replaces the HC since I want to be able to control my scope out on the deck, from inside my house on these frightfully cold Winter nights. The dongle appears to work just fine with an IPhone, but when I try to access it with a Windows 7 Laptop, I cannot access it through the wireless connection. This is the case, whether I am working through the "direct" or "wireless network" modes.

My Son's laptop, with an XP operating system, has no difficuty accessing the dongle at all! The problem seems to be with the wireless radio in the laptop.

Has anyone overcome this difficulty? What, if anything, am I doing wrong ?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Any reviews / feedback since year 2013 will be much appreciated.
