Does this scope look any good?

Hi guys,

I've been looking at this 6" f12.5 maksutov cassegrain OTA for £200. The scope doesn't have a make on it so I'm not sure that it is worth the asking price or not.

Does anyone recognise this scope or can anyone tell if it is decent or not?

Any help is appreciated,

You can never tell how good a telescope is from a photograph, you'd have to use it to determine that.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that!

I wouldn't be able to try it until I received it so it would be a case of taking a chance.

I may just give it a miss then.

That looks like an even better match. Right down to the gap in the black plastic and the sticker.

It even has the screw hole in the plastic near to the lower screw....

Yeah that looks like the very fella Cornelius Varley.

It matches up very nicely right down to the sticker. I'll have a look & see if I can find some reviews for it. If it gets some good reviews then I might just take a risk on it.

I think I'm going to take a chance on it, I'm feeling lucky today. I managed to buy a TAL x2 barlow for £20 earlier so I'm just gonna hope I'm on a roll!

I'm not expecting it to be amazing but I think it will be good enough to do me until I can afford a Skymax PRO 180.

The corrector lens and primary look good (from what i can see). The dovetail does show some use (thats a good thing).

I personally would take a punt on it.

I ended up buying the scope. I felt it was worth a chance so I went for it.

I'm very happy with the 300P but I wanted to get a scope better suited for planetary viewing & imaging, especially with Mars & Saturn getting ever higher in the sky.

When it arrives & I get a chance to try it out I'll post some pics.
