Default M42 (The last one I promise) - 6th February 2010, 07:39 PM

Gosh over a month since I was last able to DSO image, time flies. With a limited window of clear sky last night of about 2 hours I set about getting more data on my m42 which I started in January.

Details
OTB 102ED with WO Mk4 Flattener, 1000D modded, 3 and a bit hours of 4 minute ISO 800 subs, composited with 10x 1 minute and 10 x 30 second subs.

Processing was (as ever) a trial but having 3 hours worth of data
helps. No sharpening and just a tad of cropping

This is it now, I must image something else now.

Hope you like it

Philj

Nothing simple about star clusters...easier to capture, but tricky to process I find

Very nicely captured Phil with a good amount of the fainter outer areas showing up.

Hi

Yes lots of fainter stuff coming through and never tire of this region

I would say though m42 does seem to be a bit one colour , did it get lost in translation

Very nice Phil. Loads of detail and the colours are amazing. Time well spent if you ask me, and I never tire of this object.
