Default 2009 DSO showcase - 11th January 2010, 09:37 PM

Please use this thread to showcase your best images captured during 2009. Just one post per member but you can include up to 5 images if you want.

The thread is for all imagers novices and advanced. Hopefully we will be able to do the same again next year. Over time we will be able to see the progress which is being made by individuals and as a forum.

Please keep details to a minimum - scope and camera possibly along with a few comments.

The thread needs to be packed with images so please don't respond to the postings

Getting my dome finished was a huge high for me in 2009. The year wasn't very productive until right at the end when things finally started to come together.

All pictures taken with a QSI 532 camera

M51: 10" LX200ACF using SX active optics unit
Pelican: FSQ 106 with Ha filter
Rosette: FSQ 106 and Baader Ha, OIII and SII filters
M33: FSQ 106. A QHY 8 was used to capture the colour data
The Cone and Christmas Tree Cluster: HaHaRGB

IC1805 - The Heart Nebula
NGC 884 & 869 - The Perseus Double Cluster
M52 Star Cluster

Here's a few from me, I've only included images captured and processed by me. There's plenty of room for improvement:

We have: The Bubble Nebula, Blackeye Galaxy, Veil Nebula, Crescent Nebula, M45. All taken using an SXV-H9.

2009 was the first full year I've been imaging (started March '08) and once I ironed out a few kinks in my setup, I think I've managed to hit my stride a bit and pulled out a couple of decent efforts.

In order:

IC 63 (Atik 16hr & WO FLT98)
NGC 7023 (Atik 16hr & WO FLT98)
NGC 891 (Atik 16hr & FLT 98)
IC 417 (Atik & ED80)
and good ol' horsey (Atik & ED80).

2009 was not that good for me, I only had two images that I was happy with, one of Sh2-171 and one of the Rosette nebula, I would have to say that I think the Rosette is my best image so far, probably because it was captured from Kelling Heath and not from my light polluted garden.
