Default So Strong - 2 dumbbells - 30th August 2009, 06:48 PM

2x M27

One taken at Salisbury using 120ED + WOIII flattener, Canon 1000D at ISO 1600 guided, no darks or flats, 34 x 1min

Second at home using 200mm F/4 GSO Newt + MPCC, canon 1000D at ISO 1600 + SW LP filter, guided (well sort of - the guiding wasn't working properly I think) , no darks or flats , 16 x 1min

Comments/Critique always welcome

A nice pair...

Pete ... any reason why your keeping the sub lenghts at 1min when your guiding?

I would try increasignthe sub length and reducing the ISO .. ISO800 is a fairly nice sweet spot with the 1000D ... there no ampgloew issues to wory about with longer subs on the 1000D and I personally dont bother with darks when usign it either...

Lower ISO will give you better color...

Very nice images Pete. I definately think you have captured more detail at Salisbury, it stands out.

Agree with PB though, you should be able to 'go deeper' than 1 minute for the fainter structure if your guiding is half-decent, and it looks ok to me.

Great meeting you - looking forward to next time already.

Thanks guys, Peter er that is Psychobilly Peter, I will have a go next time with longer subs and using ISO 800 whenever we get a break in the clouds in Wales???
I used 1 min at salisbury because the clouds were coming and going and at home I quickly get a red caste due to LP but I believe that can be processed out so long as the chip isn't swamped with LP.

Pete

Try a Skywatcher Neodymium filter if you have the older orange sodium streetlights it should be a quite effective and "cheap" way of reducing the LP...
