Default Oh no, not another Ethos - 19th April 2009, 05:30 PM

I see that Tele Vue is continuing with their masterplan to empty the bank accounts of every observer on earth..............................

TeleVue 10mm Ethos Eyepiece

The Televue 10mm Ethos is the “do-it-all” eyepiece; perfect for all scopes that can utilize this focal length. And, "filling the hole" between the 13mm and 8mm makes it the ideal centerpiece for a 17mm/10mm/6mm Ethos set.

In addition to matching all the key performance criteria of its 13mm sibling, its lighter weight and smaller diameter makes the 10mm Ethos more suitable for use with a binocular viewer.
  • Apparent field: 100°
  • Focal length: 10mm
  • Effective field stop diameter: 17.7mm
  • Eye relief: 15mm (accepts DIOPTRX eyesight astigmatism corrector)
  • Barrel size: 2"/1¼"
  • Black barrel diameter: 61 mm
  • Weight: 1.10 lbs (17.7 oz.)

I've been wondering when this one would turn up - seemed to obvious a gap for it to not be filled. Wonder what's next?

I'm hoping for a 26mm Ethos. Just think of the dozens of 31mm Naglers going up for sale cheap if they did.

Yeah, i'd like a 20-something one too - although the potential price is a bit scary given what the 17mm costs. Possible that a few more 13mm ones might appear used too, as 10mm + 17mm seems a nice pairing for a lot of things and 10, 13, 17 is quite an extravagance.

I've just got a 10mm Pentax, bugger

Wouldn't a 26E be physically to big and weigh to much.

I half remember a guesstimate on CN that the maximum focal length for the Ethos was something like 21-23mm (can't remember exactly, maybe plus or minus a mil' or so) - can't remember if the 2" format was the limitation, or size/weight .... or cost.

Would be an awesome max-TFOV eyepiece for the fast-dob brigade though, where the exit pupil of the 31T5 is already becoming limiting.
