Something new on the horizon... maybe...

Posted 26th February 2009 at 06:07 AM by Jamie

Renfrewshire Astronomical Society are looking at the possibility of relocating our weekly meeting venue to incorprate a "darker" sky than the light polluted one we have at the Paisley observatory.

One of the possibilities we are consudering is a place called Lapwig Lodge on the Gleniffer Braes overlooking Paisley.

The members are going to attend a meeting there this Friday night 27.02.09. Kind of like try before you buy.
Lapwig Lodge is normally used...

SGL (My take on it)

Posted 16th February 2009 at 09:21 AM by Jamie

I sometimes find it hard to comprehend the sheer scale and size of SGL these days.
From its humble beginnings when a couple of guys were sharing some time on a yahoo group to what we have today - an active community.

What this place means to so many people is something that for me i find difficult to put into words.
When SGL is off line for any reason i feel left out somehow.
When SGL's imagers share their great work i feel humbled at the aesthetically pleasing images...

To those that actually bother reading/taking on board/taking time out to use the grey matter before shooting off at the mouth/keyboard.

Welcome to the new look SGL.

As for the others (the troops will soon set you straight)
